the search for the perfect language

I paint the marks and shapes to represent my thoughts, memories, emotions:
to make signs for elements that make my mind. I am inventing figures for thought; making glyphs for them.

I paint them in an empty landscape, sometimes connecting, sometimes colliding; making a syntax for the glyphs.

I am searching for the perfect forms, the perfect balance, the expressive space.

I paint the black rock to represent the impenetrable, where consciousness turns to the unconscious and everything seems upside down.

I use gouache because it’s watery but also has substance. It shows movement and in this way supports the fluidity of thoughts that I want to convey in the paintings.

I paint on paper because I love its luminosity and surface. The paint soaks in and paper shows all the strokes.
