natural history

The sea is central to my personal experience.
The unknown instilling a sense of wonder
Seaweed: watery residue left by tides
Primordial forms connecting to unconscious
Drawing these sensuous shapes in long arcing movements is satisfying to me.
When they close, they seem irreducible.

I use gouache because it’s watery but also has substance.
I paint on paper because of its luminosity and surface.
The paper absorbs the watery color forming tidal edges.
Shapes and strokes layer over the background.
